BLA: The enemy of Humanity
The Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) attempts to portray itself as the protector of the Baloch people, but this narrative is fundamentally flawed, misleading, and deceptive. Like other terrorist organizations, the BLA operates with a violent ideology that aims to disrupt the unity and peace of Pakistan, particularly in the province. Recent attacks by the group further reveal its true nature. In reality, the BLA’s actions are driven by a small fraction of extremists who do not represent the broader Baloch population. The majority of Baloch citizens are, in fact, the primary victims of this terrorist group and seek liberation from its brutal influence.
The BLA’s narrative is not one of liberation but one of terrorism. The organization’s actions, such as targeting civilians, attacking security forces, and sabotaging national infrastructure, are not acts of freedom fighting but acts of terror that aim to destabilize the region. The so-called “Operation Herof,” which involved the killing of civilians and destruction of property, is a clear demonstration of the BLA’s disregard for human life and the well-being of the Baloch people. In the recent terrorist attacks BLA killed 23 innocent civilians who came the province to earn a piece of bread for their families. In Sibi, the terrorist outfit’s attack also resulted in killing a Baloch teacher, who enlightened several students from his hometown. Besides this, the organization has recently assassinated DC Panjgoor, Zakir Baloch who was serving the people of the province. Thus, the history of the barbaric group is filled with the examples that highlights it true nature against Baloch people.
The terrorist group and its proxies manifest them as representatives of Baloch people. However, the vast majority of Baloch citizens are patriotic Pakistanis who reject the BLA’s violent and extremist ideology. They are actively involved in the development of their province and country, and many Baloch families have proudly sent their sons and daughters to serve in the, civil services, armed forces and other national institutions to contribute their effective role in the progress of Pakistan. The BLA’s recruitment and use of suicide bombers, especially among the youth, is a clear indication of their desperation. By manipulating vulnerable individuals to carry out such attacks, the BLA is exploiting the very people they claim to be defending. These actions do not reflect a genuine struggle for liberation but rather a tragic cycle of violence that sacrifices the lives of young Baloch men and women for a misguided cause.
On the other hand, the terrorist outfit claims that the province is lagging behind in term of development due to the negligence of state, but in reality, the organization is the real enemy of development in the region. The recent attacks can evidently show this phenomenon. By blocking highways and attacking infrastructure, the BLA disrupts the daily lives of ordinary people, preventing them from accessing essential services, including healthcare and education. The burning of vehicles, regardless of the BLA’s denials, only adds to the suffering of innocent civilians, further alienating the population from their cause. The militants want to sabotage the CPEC project in the province by following the commands of their foreigner masters. It is time for the whole nation to reject propagandas and to reaffirm their commitment to peace and unity within Pakistan.
As the Baloch people acknowledge, the future of Balochistan lies not in violence but in development, education, and cooperation with the rest of the country. The state is committed to enhance dialogue, development projects, and political empowerment. Even the governments (federal and provincial) announced general amnesty for those who are ready to surrender. Major infrastructure projects, such as the Gwadar port and the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), are creating jobs and opportunities for the Baloch youth, providing them with a future free from violence and extremism.
